We certainly haven't lost sight of the beautiful designs and workmanship that went into NEON, the product that brought life into lighting is probably the most iconic sign style in history.

NEON SIGNS have certainly evolved into an art form. NEON SIGNS have the capability of illuminating a desert metropolis to look like a blazing, multi-colored fire when view from the air after nightfall.

We have placed this collection to share what we feel are some of the most beautiful signs ever produced. Please note that many are neither in perfect condition nor were they photographed in optimal lighted, dusk conditions. We photograph them when we come upon them...

OLIVER'S BAKERY, INC. - KENOSHA, WI
  Great curves, sharp colors and working neon, even during the daylight hours. A true piece of art still standing tall after likely decades of service...



JOE'S PIZZERIA - WHEELING, IL
  Likely original condition, still shows the sign manufacturer's logo at the bottom center of the face. Paint on the tubing leading into the "J" and connecting each letter is long worn away. Sign is in beautiful, working order!

JEFFERY BOWLING LANES - WHEELING, IL
  Located in the same complex (I can't say strip mall since they really were not invented when this sign was likely installed) as Joe's Pizzeria (featured above). This sign also appears to be in near original condition. Nice, outlined neon on "bowling" plus classic neon bowling pin and ball for the "O", what more can we say other than "a really beautiful neon sign".

DIVERSEY ROCK 'N' BOWL - CHICAGO, IL
  Speaking of bowling, here is a fine example of a number of processes blended together. The bulbs in "BOWL" have recently been upgraded to LED modules effectively updating the integrity of the original design. Also very nicely done is the animation created by the alternating of neon "RESTAURANT" and "COCKTAILS" on the towering, monument sign. A secondary "BOWLING - COCKTAILS" over the entrance says it all --- no clever slogans needed here, just what they offer --- to the point!

MILLEN HARDWARE - WILMETTE, IL
  Nice, well maintained sign designed and installed specifically to wrap around beautiful English Tudor architecture. Again, all of the neon working is indicative of an owner who has maintained and cared for this important bit of advertising history...

SAFES - CHICAGO, IL
  The neon tubes have long gone dark and parted company with this beautiful, vintage sign cabinet. Once again, no business name, no slogan, just a "to the point" description of their business plan. Beautiful, art deco stripes border the "all services" line. Well preserved colors and finish after years of service.

CRUISE SHIP SOMEWHERE IN THE GULF OF MEXICO

Certainly not vintage, but an impressive example of really large format backlit / channel design (maybe neon, maybe not).
